The Sacramento home where Ronald and Nancy Reagan lived during his tenure as governor of California has hit the market for $5 million.
Built in 1929, only five families have owned the historic house throughout the years, including the Reagans from 1976 to 1985. It was designed for George Pollock, the contractor of the lauded Tower Bridge, by Dean & Dean Architects.
“It’s the most beautiful house on the most beautiful street in Sacramento,” said listing agent Kim Pacini-Hauch of Re/MAX Gold Sierra Oaks.
Panici-Hauch said the Tudor-style home has been renovated many times in the past 100 years, but many of the original details are intact, including the hardwood floors, windows and clay-tile roof. The impressive two-story entryway is perfect for entertaining, she said, and has been a gathering place at many events. “If these walls could talk,” Pacini-Hauch said.
The three-bedroom, six-bathroom house spans 6,963 square feet and includes a wine cellar, game room and an artist studio/exercise room. There are seven fireplaces — five indoor and two outdoor — and an elevator.
English gardens and a manicured lawn surrounds the home.
There’s a circular and gated driveway and a two-car garage.
The most recent renovation took place in 2001 after the current owners moved in.
