Pedestrian dies after being struck by city contractor’s garbage truck

A pedestrian struck by a garbage truck under deal to the Town of Ottawa on Monday morning has died, in accordance to a memo issued Tuesday by the typical supervisor of public functions.

The deadly collision happened at about 9:20 a.m. in close proximity to Tupper Avenue and Joliffe Road around Hawthorne Park, just north of Walkley Road.

The pedestrian, a 70-yr-outdated girl, suffered lifestyle-threatening injuries and was taken to medical center in important issue, where by she later died, Ottawa law enforcement stated.

According to the memo from Alain Gonthier, the truck belongs to Miller Squander Methods.

“The Community Is effective Division and our contractor, Miller Waste Programs, are saddened by this tragic incident and increase our deepest condolences to this individual’s household and mates,” Gonthier wrote.

On Monday, Ottawa law enforcement instructed Radio-Canada the pedestrian endured existence-threatening injuries and was taken to clinic in important problem.

In accordance to Gonthier, the metropolis is “dedicated to doing work with the law enforcement and contractor to assist the investigation and any ensuing suggestions.”

Cyclist struck and killed by town grader in March

Monday’s fatal crash arrives a few months immediately after a bicycle owner was struck and killed by a Metropolis of Ottawa grader on North River Highway around Donald Road on March 17.

A grader is a piece of hefty equipment applied to develop a flat surface area for roads and at development web sites. They can also be employed to apparent snow.
